Art on the Residence Building Wall

Sometimes the art is just around the corner. It lives on the street you passing everyday, it is across the building that you can see it when you open your window, even more, it may be on the other side of the wall. Huis van Hendrik is the residence that share the beauty of art with the residents in it.

Becoming Shape
This building is not a standard shape of L, it”s more like a group of buildings in different height and curving shape .
The reason to this was to adapt the curve line of the road and for looking less bigger than it”s really are.
It also embraced the land behind and formed a garden which designed by Buro Mien Ruys, becoming the nest of the neighbourhood.
The architects chose the more socialized and public entrance instead of the private one was because they want the building be more related to the street.

Becoming Art
To blend in the atmosphere of art which created by this neighbourhood, Heren5 decided to collaborate with artist. They chose Boris Tellegen for his former works, which usually reflected the relationship between art and building environment.Boris Tellegen chose one wall to put his work on. It took 3 months for 2 mansons to finish the wall of art.

Becoming Architecture
This building only took 12 months to complete when the time of finishing a project in Netherlands is 18 months. Architects said that this due to the collaboration of the whole team. From the very beginning the collaboration between the participators of the project started. The BIM and 3D drawing also helped a lot.

Becoming Philosophy
This is not the first time Heren5 cooperating with the artists. The architect told us that they love to work with artists because there is always fresh and unforgettable experiences.
They love the building craft and more than that, they want every project is an experience of thinking and solving problems.
In this project what they realized very deeply is that how important is a garden to a building.
The respect of site condition is the reason why they are credited by the clients. The architect insisted that the architecture is the expression of art and beauty in the outside, but inside it ” s the consideration of surroundings and the respect of former art.
Therefor, the art is so close to every one.Boris Tellegen chose one wall to put his work on.
